32 year-old center Erik Haula signed a three-year contract extension with the New Jersey Devils as the team continues to show that they are going to have a busy offseason. The deal is for $9,450,000 over three years, $3,150,000 AAV — he also has a full no trade clause for the first two years of the contract. Haula finished the 2023 season playing in 80 regular season games, 12 playoff games, and scored 18 goals and 47 points.

Haula came to New Jersey in the trade that sent Pavel Zacha to the Boston Bruins, and he’s been a steady, veteran presence for the Devils. Prior to the Bruins, Haula had short stints with the Panthers, Predators, and Hurricanes. He was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL expansion draft after being left unprotected on the Minnesota Wild list of players than could be selected from each NHL club. Haula plays for Team Finland and won silver in the 2014 IIHF Worlds.
